About

Amy Shinal, MSW, LCSW

Amy Shinal, MSW, LCSW, is an Integrative Psychotherapist in private practice, and Clinical Director at The Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington, DC.  In her role as Clinical Director, Amy consults on program development and implementation for the Center’s professional training programs worldwide and supervises medical and mental health professionals, as they integrate mind-body medicine into their personal and professional lives. She is the Clinical Director for Center programs including Mind-Body Medicine, CancerGuides® and Global Trauma Relief.  As Clinical Director for the Center’s work nationally and internationally, Amy develops community-based, multi-disciplinary teams skilled in mind-body medicine, self care and community-based service delivery. Through Clinical Supervision and training, Amy helps create resilient, skilled leadership teams equipped to respond to ever changing needs and service delivery on individual, group, organizational and community levels; whether those needs relate to job stress, depression, anxiety, psychological trauma or the challenge of chronic or life-threatening illness. Amy helps individuals explore, examine and transcend the perceived barriers to integrating mind-body approaches into their lives and the lives of those they serve, so that an integrated approach to wellness is not only practiced professionally, but embodied personally.

In her private practice, Amy utilizes EMDR, meditation, mindfulness, guided imagery, movement, writing, drawing, energy psychology, nature based soul work and other experiential and somatic modalities to help individuals move past their stuck points to become who they are truly meant to be; recognizing the importance of always engaging mind, body and spirit. Her experience working with trauma and the challenges of life, coupled with her desire to foster self awareness and soul growth, which recognizes and builds on the inherent strengths and gifts of the individual, results in a collaborative and transformational approach to healing.
